Amar: Outside

Amar wurde bekannt durch ihre Zusammenarbeit mit Talvin Singh beim Track Jaan vom Album Anokha - Soundz of the Asian Underground aus dem Jahr 1997. 1999 arbeitete sie mit dem Rai-Musiker Khaled zusammen, der gemeinsame Song El Harba Wine ist auf dessem Album Kenza erschienen. Im Jahr 2000 schließlich wurde ihr Debüt Outside veröffentlicht, das u.a. von Nitin Sawhney mitproduziert wurde. Im Booklet schreibt sie: 'Outside' is not an album that stands up & says 'this is my message to the world', but more an album that jumps up & screams 2 those who have begun to grow, like me... It's just for a long time i was just a singer, an outsider, not the 1 with the opinions & the vision. That changed. ... I think 'Outside' is just the beginning of the journey, to the inside.
